My uncle, a baptist minister his whole life, decided to get a formal theological training that resulted in a Doctorate of Divinity. The second doctorate in our family (the first is a neuroscientist). We had a conversation in which he compared the African American worship experiences to Youruba, Santeria, Voudon practices.
