Rockaway Records sits next to a library and across from a Vietnamese restaurant. The vibe was cool breeze, hipster trendy on a Sunday afternoon in Silverlake. A tweet from record locator wax_fm promoted Rockaway Records annual sale. They offered cds for 99 cents with up to a 75% mark down for lps.
I bought 6 lps,6 45s, and 4 cds for only $11. I walked away with a bag full of goodies and tons of guilt. I already have 50 lps and I’ve only digitized 2 records. I promised myself no more collecting until I digitize and share. Yet, the offer of a long drive and the quiet friendship of dust and records won out!
When’s the last time you’ve been to an independent record store?
